The new laptops feature top-tier internals including Intel Haswell processors and AMD or NVIDIA graphics

We saw Dell's first Haswell powered mobile workstation this past July (the M3800). Though the American company has been a little slow in bringing the benefits of the new technology to the rest of its product line, professionals looking for a really top-tier workstation will probably agree that the M4800 and M6800 were worth the wait.

The M4800 has a 15.6-inch 3200 x 1800 Quad HD+ IGZO display and three bays for up to 2.5 TB of internal storage, while the M6800 has a 17.3-inch 1920 x 1080 Wacom 10-finger multi-touch display and four bays for up to 3.5 TB.

Both models feature Intel Core i5 or i7 Haswell processors (up to Core i7 Extreme Edition), AMD FirePro or NVIDIA Quadro graphics (up to a K5100M for the M6800), up to 16 GB RAM, PCIe SSDs, WAVES MaxxAudio Pro, WiGig wireless docking, and all day battery life. An external battery slice is also available to extend run times even further.

Dell is also offering a choice of operating systems for the new laptops including Windows 7, Windows 8, Red Hat, and Ubuntu Linux.

The new mobile workstations are expected to be available worldwide on September 12. Prices start at US$1249 for the M4800 and US$1599 for the M6800.
