Asus sued for using "Transformer Prime"

Teaser
Hasbro wants ASUS to change the name of their latest Tablet “Transformer Prime” as, Hasbro believes Asus making financial gain out of their name

Another lawsuit filed against a company but this time it’s not for patents, but for the name of the device. Hasbro isn’t very keen on ASUS ‘stealing’ the name of their trademarks when they released the Transformer Prime.

The Transformer Prime has now already started shipping with the name of the Autobot leader “Optimus Prime”, star of their Transformers franchise. Hasbro believes that ASUS is banking the fact that consumers would associate the convertible tablet with their animated TV show.

Hasbro commented on the fact as the specific actions they are taking against ASUS underscores yet again Hasbro’s willingness to pursue companies who are using their intellectual property for ASUS’s financial gains.

It is really interesting to find Hasbro’s concern in the name of their star being stolen but it is hard to believe how anyone could associate the tablet with a children’s TV show. Now let’s see what comes out next and if ASUS thinks of changing the name of their device to any other what it would be?
