The Archos 7 Home Tablet has to be taken on its own merits with both price and target audience in mind. For £130 you get a decent little connected device that will let you access the web, send e-mails, read ebooks and chat over IM, albeit without video. It's a decent media player too. Sure, it's no iPad, but at the entry-level, it is £300 cheaper.

What we have in the Archos 7 is a device that feels like it has been engineered to a price. And that's the scary thing about the Archos 7: the price is biggest plus point. The fact that it runs Android isn't such a benefit as you don't get to experience what the rest of the Android world takes for granted: those freedoms are denied, unless you are happy to hunt out new apps, something the average customer won't want to do.

7.0": This is one of the smallest formats, which is used for UMPC, Netbooks or Subotebooks. There hardly exist any models with this display format. Working for a long time is uncomfortable. This tiny display is intended for outdoor usage.
The advantage is, that the mini-notebook can be small dimensioned and can be carried easily. Further the tiny display has the advantage, that it needs few energy, which improves the battery runtime and in consequence the mobility. The disadvantage is that the reading of texts is very exhausting for the eyes. High resolutions can hardly be used. » To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
0.65 kg: This subnotebook is one of the most lightweight of all notebooks and can be carried very easily. There exist hardly any models in this extreme class of weight. 7-9 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
