Reviews for the Acer Aspire 5740G-5309

80% Acer Aspire AS5740G-5309 15.6-inch Thin And Light Laptop PC
Source: Comp Reviews English
Acer's Aspire 5740G-5309 is an amazing value for those wanting to get a thin and light laptop system with a dedicated graphics processor for light PC gaming and HD video watching. The Core i3-330M may be a low end processor among the new Core i series mobile processors, but its performance is clearly a marked improvement over the majority of the older Core 2 mobile processors.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470: Entry level DirectX 11 chip with GDDR5 support but only 80 shader cores. Supports Eyefinity (up to 4 monitors) and 8-ch HD audio over HDMI. Performance on par with the old GeForce 8600M GT.

Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

330M:

The Core i3-330M is a slower clocked 350M and therefore also lacks the Turbo Boost feature and clocks with max. 2.13 GHz. Thanks to Hyperthreading, 4 threads can be processed simultaneously. An integrated graphics card (GMA HD 3150) and a DDR3 memory controller are also included in the package.

15.6": 15 inch display-variants are the standard and are used for more than the half of all notebooks. 15.4 inch display with 16:10 are the standard for notebook displays. However nowadays, more and more 16:9 displays with 15.6 inch appear. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

2.7 kg: This notebook is lighter than the average of all notebooks. It is too heavy for sub-notebooks. 14 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
