he Acer Aspire 5740G laptop offers great performance at a good price. The inclusion of a DirectX 11.0-class discrete graphics chip is another plus, providing good gaming performance and video playback. If you're in the market for an affordable laptop with the latest features, and you don't mind the deficient audio playback and the lack of Bluetooth support, this 'average' machine may be just right.

The Acer Aspire 5740G is a refreshed model in Acer's 2010 Aspire series line up. Earlier versions of the Aspire have been decent performers with a Value for Money (VFM) proposition. This year it receives an update with Intel's Core i3 330M 2.13 GHz processor and the new generation ATI Radeon HD 5470 graphics chip. The rest of the design and components are the same. So will Acer continue to reign in the paisa vasool desktop replacement segment? Or should people expect more than just a CPU/Graphics update.

This $750 Acer laptop offers very good performance, but substandard audio and a lack of Bluetooth may limit its appeal.
The Acer Aspire 5740G-6979 all-purpose laptop falls squarely in the conservative middle of these units, stuffing a next-generation Core i5-430M processor and ATI Radeon Mobility 5650 graphics hardware into a bulky, last-generation laptop chassis.

At the end of the day, the major point to make about the Acer Aspire 5740-6979 is the one we've made repeatedly throughout the course of this review: this thing's available for just $749. The mobile gamer on a budget would be hard-pressed to find a better combination of specifications anywhere else. Other manufacturers are packing much less powerful GPUs in their notebooks in this price range, and that's assuming there's even a dedicated GPU at all.

Acer's Aspire 5740G-6395 is an amazing value for those wanting to get a thin and light laptop system with a dedicated graphics processor for light PC gaming and HD video watching. Performance is strong thanks to the Core i5 processor that will work well for all those who aren't looking at something like digital video editing. Graphics are fast enough for playing the latest 3D games.

In conclusion, we were suitably impressed by all the Acer Aspire 5740G-434G64Mn has to offer. True, portability is an issue which may put some off, but we feel the power, durability and usability of the machine successfully compensate for this.

The Acer Aspire 5740G-334G32Mn sells for Rs. 43,500. Reasons why you should think about buying the Acer Aspire 5740G laptop are many -- the laptop offers a good screen, very good performance and features, nice build quality, full-keyboard and a gesture-enabled touchpad. However, the laptop's quite heavy and doesn't have a great battery life. If you want a nice, big laptop for home usage and casual gaming, and if you don't care much about its mediocre battery life, the Acer Aspire 5740G should hold you in good stead.

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.
Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
77.23%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
