The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is a high-end SoC (System on a Chip) for smartphones that was introduced at the end of 2025. It integrates two fast Oryon Gen 3 Prime Cores with up to 3.8 GHz and 6 smaller Oryon Gen 3 Performance Cores with up to 3.32 GHz. An Adreno 840 iGPU is also integrated.
Initial rumors speak of a Geekbench 6 score of 3,000 (single) or 10,000 (multi). The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 achieves slightly higher scores in Geekbench 6.5, namely 3,600 (single) and 10,800 (multi). The higher single-core score can be explained by the higher clock rates of up to 4.6 GHz in the Elite SoC. The SD 8 Gen 5 should therefore be able to compete with the fast MediaTek Dimensity 9500.
According to rumors, the SoC is produced in the N3P process at TSMC.
Please note that some of the above information, such as benchmarks and process, is still based on rumors from Digital Chat Station.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (SM8850-AC) is a high-end SoC (System on a Chip) for smartphones that was introduced at the end of 2025. It integrates two fast Oryon Gen 3 Prime Cores with up to 4.6 GHz and 6 smaller Oryon Gen 3 Performance Cores with up to 3.62 GHz.
The integrated X85 5G modem supports 5G NR Sub-6 and mmWave with up to 12.5 Gbit/s download and 3.7 Gbit/s upload.
The quad-channel 16-bit memory controller (total 64-bit) supports LPDDR5X-5300 MHz with a maximum bandwidth of 84.8 GB/s.
The single-core performance of the large Prime Cores is outstanding and is on a par with the Apple A19 Pro SoC at the top of the smartphone processors. Under multi-core load, things look even better and the SD 8 Elite Gen 5 can outperform the A19 Pro by 21% and remains only just behind a 9-core Apple M4.
The chip is manufactured in the modern N3P process at TSMC (3nm).
