The Korean tech manufacturer Samsung is adding a new member to its Series 5 lineup. The 550P is a powerful notebook aimed at gamers and multimedia aficionados. Apparently, it will become available to customers in the United Kingdom sometime this month. There is still no word on pricing, though.

Damian Cusick, General Manager, Computing, Samsung UK and Ireland was quoted as saying: "With its fully integrated multimedia features and lightweight slim design the Samsung Series 5 550P notebook offers an unsurpassed 'look, listen and feel' experience that no other notebook will match".

According to the maker, the 550P is powered by up to a third generation Quad-Core Ivy Bridge Intel Core i7 central processing unit. Furthermore, it will come in two screen sizes: 15.6 and 17.3 inches (the native resolution of the panels is unfortunately still unknown).

Weighing 2.5kg (15-incher) and 3.05kg (17-incher), the latest Series 5 notebook will reportedly pack an NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M (DirectX 11.1 compatible, Shader 5) graphics card that is based on the 28nm Kepler architecture and delivers 2GB of dedicated DDR3/GDDR5 video memory.

Other features supposedly include an integrated Blu-ray optical drive, up to a 2TB HDD for storing your files, built-in JBL optimised speakers and a Max Bass Boost subwoofer. The product’s official PR also indicates that the 550P sports a full-size chiclet keyboard with a numeric keypad and an “improved” touchpad.
