A brand new mini PC from the prominent brand Peladn has arrived in China, dubbed the Wi-8. Priced quite affordably, the Intel 'Alder Lake-N' mini PC boasts a decent set of internals with a solid array of ports. Similar to other mini PCs in its class, the Wi-8 is targeted at folks with frugal performance expectations.
Intel N150: Satisfactory power for everyday tasks
At its core, the Peladn Wi-8 mini PC is powered by the Intel N150 processor, boasting four cores and four threads with a boost clock of 3.6 GHz. The Alder Lake-N processor features Gracemont efficiency cores exclusively, allowing for performance that is in the same league as a six-year old AMD Ryzen 7 3750H.
In simpler terms, the Wi-8 mini PC should only be enough for basic workloads and content consumption. There is no room for dedicated GPUs either, which is hardly surprising considering the mini PC's compact 120 x 120 x 42 mm chassis. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics with 24 EUs is also powerful enough for non-intensive tasks only.
The Wi-8 mini PC also packs 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory along with a 512 GB SSD (Crucial P310 curr. $38.99 on Amazon) housed in a user-accessible M.2 2280 slot. Plenty of ports are also on offer, including dual HDMI 2.0, dual USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, single USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, dual USB 2.0, audio jack, as well as dual gigabit Ethernet ports. The system is priced at just $160 (1,149 Yuan) in China, which is a decent price considering the modest internals. A global launch is likely, although a release date for the same is not in sight for now.
