Microsoft will release Windows 10 Consumer Preview in January
A report from The Verge suggests that Microsoft will reveal new consumer features of Windows 10 in January. While sources close to The Verge say that Microsoft will be present at CES 2015, a separate event will be held to detail the new features that are a going to be a part of the final Windows 10 release.
Earlier this year, Microsoft unveiled Windows 10 as a cross-platform flexible OS that will adapt to fit devices of all form factors. Windows 10 will run across a wide range of devices - Xbox One, PC, Windows tablets, Smartphones, etc. A Technical Preview of Windows 10 was released on October 1, nearly two months ago.
The Verge also reports that Microsoft would release a Windows 10 Consumer Preview in January. Unlike the Technical Preview, which serves more as a proof-of-concept, the Consumer Preview version would incorporate many more features that are destined to be a part of the final release. Expect the Windows 10 Consumer Preview to be a lot more stable too, perhaps even good enough to serve as a daily driver.
Microsoft promised to release Windows 10 for PCs in mid-2015.
