Cambridge Audio unveils Evo 150 DeLorean Edition streaming amplifier with large touchscreen
The brand new DeLorean Edition of the Cambridge Audio Evo 150 features a bare metal cabinet inspired by the legendary DeLorean DMC12. The product is intended to celebrate the collaboration between the two companies in the automotive sector and therefore bears two DeLorean logos, and the side panels can be swapped to customize the look.
Technically, nothing has changed: the Evo 150 is still marketed as an all-in-one hi-fi system and users only need to connect passive speakers that can handle the 150 watts of power per channel (8 ohms). Inside the Evo 150 is a high-quality Hypex Ncore Class D amplifier, an ESS Sabre ES9018K2M DAC chip with support for DSD256 and a complete hi-fi streamer that supports Bluetooth aptX HD as well as Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Tidal, Qobuz and Roon.
One look at the back is enough to see how versatile the Evo 150 really is, because in addition to the speaker terminals, the amplifier also offers an integrated MM preamplifier for a turntable, a subwoofer output, HDMI ARC for use with a modern Smart TV, two Toslink connections, a coax port, an XLR input and a pre-out connection that allows you to connect an external amplifier and use the Evo 150 as a streamer only. The large touchscreen on the front displays the album cover and a VU meter for easy operation.
