Reviews for the Advent Vega Tegra Note 7

80% Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 review

While its outward appearance may put some off, the Nvidia Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 is everything a bargain 7in tablet should be. Its screen and build quality could be taken up a notch, but we’d opt for the extra speed - and low cost - every time. In general use, plus for movie watching and gaming, it excels. Overall this little tablet is spectacularly good value, serving up the kind of performance that just shouldn’t be possible at this price.

Unsheathing the stylus also opens a pop-up launcher that can store all the apps designed for stylus input. The Tegra Note includes Tegra Draw, a rudimentary painting app with a limited set of brushes and features, and Write, which is designed for basic note taking. Both work well considering pressure detection is managed purely in software; there's a very slight delay when drawing long lines, but we could still sketch and illustrate with greater accuracy than by touch alone. The Advent Tegra Note is a real bargain, especially when you consider its fast processor, great battery life and its stylus support. You can't get a better tablet than the Tegra Note without spending significantly more.

67% Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 review

In the end, the Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 is a mixed proposition. It's clear that costs have been cut in the choice of screen and the tablet's overall build quality, but with a price this reasonable, top-notch performance and proper, pressure-sensitive stylus support, it's possible to overlook such tribulations. It certainly offers something different to its rivals.

Model:

Although PC World has not been releasing many Advent phones as of late, that does not mean they are out of the picture just yet. The Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 is somewhat a comeback phone for Advent and it is not too shabby.

The Vega Tegra Note 7 has one of the most attractive price tags in the market. However, that does not mean it does not mean that it comes with poor specifications. It comes equipped with a 1.8 GHz quad core NvidiaTegra 4 processor making it stand out from its other low cost competitors in terms of performance. The display, on the other hand, is rather average with a pixel resolution of only 1280 by 800 and a pixel density of only 215 ppi. It is not great, but it is sufficient to get things going.

The Vega Tegra Note 7 also comes with a 5 MP rear facing camera and a 0.3 MP front facing camera. That is not too bad for a device for its price. In addition, the device supports Bluetooth 4.0 but only supports Wi-Fi 802.11n.

All in all, the Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 may not be the most appealing device out in the market, but what it lacks in displays it makes up with performance. Users who value functionality over appearance should look into this phone.

NVIDIA GeForce Tegra 4: Integrated graphics card in the Tegra 4 SoC with 48 pixel and 24 vertex shaders (no unified shader architecture).

Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

7.0": This is one of the smallest formats, which is used for UMPC, Netbooks or Subotebooks. There hardly exist any models with this display format. Working for a long time is uncomfortable. This tiny display is intended for outdoor usage.
The advantage is, that the mini-notebook can be small dimensioned and can be carried easily. Further the tiny display has the advantage, that it needs few energy, which improves the battery runtime and in consequence the mobility. The disadvantage is that the reading of texts is very exhausting for the eyes. High resolutions can hardly be used. » To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

0.32 kg: This subnotebook is one of the most lightweight of all notebooks and can be carried very easily. There exist hardly any models in this extreme class of weight. 7-9 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.

Advent: This is the laptop brand of the hardware magazine PC World. The marketing focusses UK. Reviews of Advent-Laptops are relatively frequent and not only by PC World.

81.75%: This rating should be considered to be average. This is because the proportion of notebooks which have a higher rating is approximately equal to the proportion which have a lower rating.
