Even though AMD showed off its Ryzen 9000 series of desktop processors at Computex 2024, you won't be able to buy it until later next month (July 2024). A previous report incorrectly predicted AMD would launch its new X3D CPUs alongside their non-X3D counterparts. However, a new report from Club386 (via Videocardz) talks about an earlier-than-usual arrival for AMD's newest gaming-focused CPUs.
A source familiar with the matter told the publication that AMD plans to announce some Ryzen 9000 X3D SKUs as early as September 2024. Like last time, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9900X3D will be the first to launch, followed by the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Exactly when the CPUs will be available for purchase remains unknown. A 2025 release date seems likely because it will give enough time for the remaining Zen 5 CPUs to permeate through the market.
That said, an earlier-than-usual release date for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9 9800X3D runs the risk of cannibalizing sales of existing models, especially among gamers, who stand to benefit from the extra cache. Then again, Intel's late-2024-bound Arrow Lake is slated to bring some serious performance gains, so it is understandable as to why AMD wants to lay out all of its cards before the competition.
