CES 2018 | AMD shows off a notebook graphics card based on the current Vega chip with HBM
Technical details like the number of CUs (compute units) or the size of the integrated HBM graphics memory are still unknown. On purely economic grounds, it would make sense to use a similar chip and memory combination as in the Kaby Lake G chip. Known as the RX Vega M GH, the new GPU offers up to 24 CUs (1536 shader units) and 4 GB of HBM2 video memory. In the rumors preceding the reveal, there was also talk of a chip with 28 CUs.
Save for the 1.7 mm Z-height of the chip and AMD’s claim that it is considerably thinner than all other mobile chips (2.3-2.4 mm), not much else is known. According to AMD, several partners are already working on products with the dedicated graphics card (laptops, all-in-ones, ...). We will keep you posted.
