Lenovo’s ultra-thin ThinkPad X1 now up for pre-order

Teaser
Lenovo’s entry into the ultra-light and thin market comes with a Sandy Bridge i5 processor and can now be pre-ordered from Amazon

If the Apple MacBook Air and Samsung Series 9 notebooks haven’t managed to fulfill your need for an ultra-thin notebook, then Lenovo might have a solution in store. The company’s ultraportable X1 laptop has been under tight wraps so far, but thanks to Amazon.com most of the juicy details have been revealed.

According to a pre-order listing on Amazon, the ThinkPad X1 will be packing an Intel Sandy Bridge Core i5-2520M along with Integrated HD 3000 Graphics. Contrary to what we’d previously heard about the notebook having a 160GB SSD and 8GB of RAM, the listing has the X1coming with only 4GB of RAM and a 320GB HDD . Otherwise, the laptop will feature a 13.3” Corning Gorilla Glass screen with a 1366x768 pixel resolution and should have an average battery life of 8 hours.

While there is no mention of any other goodies coming with the X1, earlier Lenovo PDFs stated that the notebook will come with RapidCharge technology that charges 80% of the battery within 30 minutes. In addition, the ThinkPad X1 should only weigh 1.72kg (3.79lb).

Lenovo has managed to fit a good amount of processing power into their 0.85 inch thick laptop, but as always everything comes for a price. Coming in at price tag more expensive than the Apple MacBook Air, the X1 is currently listed at £1,292 ($2,114).

Pre-orders are now being accepted by Amazon, but the notebook won't ship till the 20th of May.
