Lenovo announces the ThinkPad T430u Ultrabook with discrete graphics

We will undoubtedly see a profusion of the so-called Ultrabooks at the much anticipated CES 2012, which will take place next week in Las Vegas. Nevertheless, Lenovo has apparently decided to get a bit ahead of the competition and announce its latest addition to the ThinkPad family dubbed T430u. This thin and light notebook will reportedly hit the shelves in Q3 of this year with a starting price of $849.

Targeted towards business professionals on-the-move, the T430u will presumably be powered by a high-performance Intel Core central processing unit. Furthermore, Lenovo’s upcoming Ultrabook features a 14-inch widescreen display with a native resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels, an aluminium lid and is just 0.78 inches thick. 

More interestingly, this ultraportable laptop can be equipped with either an integrated Intel graphics controller or with a discrete NVIDIA GPU. Customers will also be able to take advantage of a 1TB HDD, an optional Solid-State Drive and an instant-on feature. On the downside, the new ThinkPad will reportedly have only 6 hours of battery life after a single charge. 

According to various sources, the manufacturer will be releasing more details on the T430u at the CES next week.
