Details of the upcoming ASUS U46 laptop emerge

Teaser
The notebook will probably be released at some point this summer offering 10 hours of battery life

If you are looking for a slim and light laptop, there is one that should soon be available for purchase. Reportedly, the Taiwan-based PC manufacturer ASUS will start selling its new U46 ultra-portable notebook this summer. Details of the system are slowly starting to emerge.

According to industry sources, the ultra-thin U46 will be equipped with a 14-inch widescreen display and will be based on Intel’s Huron River. Furthermore, it is expected to ship with a choice of second generation Sandy Bridge Core i3/i5/i7 central processing units. The fact that this model will deliver portability complemented by high-performance in form of a fast processor with Turbo Boost 2.0 and Hyper-Threading support makes it even more appealing.

Further reports indicate that ASUStek will ship this 27mm thin (just over an inch) notebook with an integrated optical drive.  This device will reportedly deliver USB 3.0 connectivity, VGA output and a web camera for video chats. In addition, the U46 will have a weight of about 2kg (4.4 lbs) with the built-in battery that is good for up to 10 hours on a single charge.

Featuring a “durable” metallic chassis, the ultra-thin and light notebook will supposedly come with a pre-installed copy of Windows 7. Unfortunately, there is still no word on pricing.
