Rumor | The iQOO 8 Pro is coming to India, Snapdragon 888+ and all
iQOO has beaten other OEMs such as Samsung and Xiaomi to the debut of the latest kind of top-end AMOLED display in the 8 Pro. The high-end panel also boasts specs such as LTPO and high brightness to comprise a potential aspirational spec for smartphone makers in 2022. Accordingly, the inaugural E5 phone's launch may have raised hopes that it, like its 7 Legend predecessor, would make it at least as far as India in terms of a global release.
There are now indeed hints that this is indeed the case, albeit in the absence of its most sought-after specs. However, the latest tip on this subject might contradict those findings in part. It consists of a new Geekbench listing for a phone from iQOO's owner, Vivo.
Its model number is I2017, and as such comes with a prefix indicating it is destined for the Indian market. The putative iQOO 8 Pro Global Edition's 8GB of RAM is joined by the lahaina Qualcomm platform, which normally points to the Snapdragon 888.
However, the breakdown of its 8 cores that follows reveals a top speed of 3.00GHz in one of them, thereby denoting the processor's 888+ variant from the 'original' 8 Pro instead. On the other hand, this leak does not speak to the "I2017's" display specs, leaving room to wonder whether the full-fat iQOO flagship will truly start to be hyped in a new region soon or not.
