The Dell UltraSharp 32 HDR PremierColor UP3221Q is the world's first 2,000-zone mini-LED monitor, and it will begin shipping as early as November 5. The monitor can reach 1,000 nits, but it will set you back US$5,000.

The Dell UltraSharp 32 HDR PremierColor UP3221Q, or UP3221Q for short, is a feat of engineering, but it will cost you a tidy sum. The UP3221Q is the world's first commercially-available 2,000 dimming zone mini-LED monitor, eclipsing the likes of the ASUS ProArt PA32UCX-PK and the Apple Pro XDR Display. However, the UP3221Q makes do with a paltry 60 Hz refresh rate, which is rather low considering its enormous price tag of US$5,000.

The UP3221Q does not support HDMI 2.1 either, but it does have two HDMI 2.0 ports, along with DisplayPort 1.4 and Thunderbolt 3 connections. There are also three USB Type-A ports, including two USB 3.2 inputs. According to Dell, the 10-bit and 4K IPS panel peaks at 350 nits in SDR mode and 1,000 nits in HDR mode.

Accordingly, Dell has certified the UP3221Q as being VESA DisplayHDR 1000 compliant. The monitor also has a contrast ratio of 1,300:1, 8 ms grey-to-grey response times and 178°/178° viewing angles. Dell factory calibrates the UP3221Q to a Delta accuracy of less than 1, but the monitor has a Calman-powered calibrator. The UP3221Q covers 93% of AdobeRGB and 99.8% of P3 though, which is not perfect.

The UP3221Q will begin shipping on November 5 for US$4,999.99. The product listing is yet to go live at the time of writing, though.
