A few months after the latest reports concerning its arrival, the next-gen Samsung Galaxy XCover surfaces on Geekbench. The list of specs does not include 5G, or at least the 5G variant is not ready yet. The SM-G525F handset runs on Android 11 and is powered by Samsung's Exynos 850 processor, paired with 4 GB of memory.

Although Samsung fans who need a rugged device can always get one of those all-around protective cases for a regular handset, there is also a market for the Galaxy XCover lineup. Sadly, it takes a few years for Samsung to come up with a new such device, and the first XCover to feature 5G might not be as close as last year's latest rumors made us believe.

According to a few new Geekbench listings, the upcoming Galaxy XCover 5 handset, codenamed SM-G525F, only comes with 4G connectivity. Its benchmark scores are rather low due to the use of the entry-range Exynos 850 SoC: 182-183 single-core points and 1112 to 1157 when running the multi-core benchmark. Right now, there are four listings of this handset present in the Geekbench database.

In addition to the above, we should also add that the upcoming XCover sports 4 GB of memory and runs on Android 11-based firmware, most likely with Samsung's One UI 3.0 on top. Obviously, military-grade protection from water, dust, and other hazards should also be present. However, all we can do now is wait for more details to show up, so stay tuned.
