Much has been said about how the new Poco X4 Pro 5G and its Snapdragon 695 are a downgrade from the Snapdragon 860-powered Poco X3 Pro. We look into the raw numbers of both chipsets to find out exactly how much of a performance delta exists between the two Poco smartphones.

Xiaomi recently debuted the Poco X4 Pro 5G for the global market. While most of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G rebadge qualifies as an upgrade over the outgoing Poco X3 Pro, the chipset beneath fails woefully at that. The Snapdragon 695-powered Poco X4 Pro 5G is widely considered to be worse than the Snapdragon 860 on the Poco X3 Pro but by exactly how much?

Starting with Geekbench, Snapdragon 860 leaves the single-core test with a score of 728, while the Snapdragon 695 records a score of 675. That's barely a 10% advantage to the Snapdragon 860, which is smaller than some would expect, considering the old chipset features a Prime Core clocked at 2.96 GHz. The Snapdragon 860 dominates in the multi-core test, however, with a score of 2657 versus the Snapdragon 695's 1933. That translates into a solid 35% advantage for the Poco X3 Pro's SoC.

Those CPU numbers carry over to AnTuTu's test as well, with the Snapdragon 860 on the Poco X3 Pro earning a score of 150,051 on AnTuTu's CPU test. The Poco X4 Pro's Snapdragon 695 comes away with a score 121,603. Or right about a 25% advantage for the Snapdragon 860. It's safe to say that the Snapdragon 860 offers better CPU performance than the Snapdragon 695 by circa 30% on average.

It's in GPU performance that the Poco X3 Pro's Snapdragon 860 annihilates the Snapdragon 695 on the Poco X4 Pro. While the Snapdragon 695 records a score of 101,082, the Snapdragon 860 comes away with 208,556—well over 100% better! As seen on similar comparison tests, though the gap in CPU performance continues to slim, older flagship chipsets still maintain a healthy advantage in terms of GPU.

Other than raw CPU and GPU performance, the Snapdragon 695 also falls short in a few other ways. The mid-range chipset is, for example, capped at 1080p capture, while the Snapdragon 860 is capable of 4K@60 recording. The Snapdragon 860-powered Poco X3 Pro also capable of native 480 fps slow-mo video recording as well. Most importantly, the Poco X3 Pro comes equipped with UFS 3.1 storage, whereas the Poco X4 Pro only gets UFS 2.2.
