PiJuice Zero: An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for the Raspberry Pi Zero that costs US$45
Single-board computers (SBC) like the Raspberry Pi are typically designed to run on mains power, but Pi Supply has other ideas. It has already released the PiJuice HAT, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) designed for the Pi, but now it is back with the PiJuice Zero. As its name suggests, the board has been purpose-built for the Raspberry Pi Zero.
The PiJuice Zero can run on Li-Po batteries, with Pi Supply offering capacities from 500 mAh to 12,000 mAh should you need to purchase one. These cost from US$12 to US$33 for reference. The board can be powered with solar panels too should you need to keep your Pi Zero running constantly, with Pi Supply offering from 6 W (US$49) to 40 W (US$155) panels. Incidentally, you can power the PiJuice Zero with a Li-Ion battery, although Pi Supply does not sell PiJuice Zero-specific batteries.
Pi Supply has developed the PiJuice Zero with a low-profile header to minimise your build's footprint. The company has included two programmable RGB LEDs along with an NCP380LMUAJAATBG power distribution switch, a BQ24160RGET Li-Ion/Po charger and an LC709203FQH battery fuel gauge. The PiJuice Zero has an STM32F030CCT6 microcontroller that incorporates an ARM Cortex-M0 too.
