The Philips 27B1U7903 is the company’s latest premium monitor aimed at professionals. Equipped with a 27-inch panel that outputs at 4K, the Philips 27B1U7903 also relies on Mini LED backlights to deliver up to 1,400 cd/m² when displaying HDR content. The Philips 27B1U7903 has a built-in USB hub and Gigabit Ethernet, among other features.

Philips has introduced the 27B1U7903, a 4K and 27-inch monitor equipped with Mini LED backlights and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity. According to the company, the Philips 27B1U7903 has 2,304 dimming zones, which Philips claims is ‘the greatest number of local dimming zones in a 27-inch monitor’. For context, most IPS monitors offer 576 zones.

As a result, the Philips 27B1U7903 has a 1,300:1 typical contrast ratio and peaks at 1,400 cd/m² when viewing HDR content. Alternatively, the monitor reaches 1,000 cd/m² when viewing images. The Philips 27B1U7903 is also DisplayHDR 1400 certified, which means that it delivers at least 95.6% DCI-P3 colour space coverage. Supposedly, the monitor actually exceeds this requirement by covering 97.2% of DCI-P3 and should provide 99.2% Adobe RGB coverage too.

Being a professional monitor, the Philips 27B1U7903 does not support high refresh rates or fast response times. Instead, the monitor peaks at 60 Hz and 4 ms response times (GtG). Similarly, Philips has only included DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 ports, although a single Thunderbolt 4 port provides 90 W of power to a connected device, plus data, upstream and video. Moreover, the monitor has four USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a 3.5 mm jack and Gigabit Ethernet. The Philips 27B1U7903 is orderable now for £1,199, including VAT.
