Honor has just unleashed a competitor into the budget 5G Android smartphone market with the X40; now, OPPO has sent the latest addition to its 2022 K10 series to challenge it. The two devices start at the same price with similar battery capacities and display refresh rates; however, one's advantages might outweigh those of the other for some consumers.

The Honor X40 has only just launched with the Snapdragon 695 SoC; however, the OPPO K10x has already superceded it as the latest Android smartphone with the same 5G-enabled platform. Then again, the former's 120Hz display has been graced with FHD+ OLED tech, whereas the latter's has not.

At 6.59 inches diagonally, the K10x' screen is also the smaller of the 2. It does, at least, have a comparably-sized 5,000mAh battery, and also charges faster at 67W (although some of its higher-end K10 siblings rock the latest 80W SUPERVOOC standard).

Then again, the Honor X40 might have the edge in terms of mobile photography; not only does its main shooter have a more on-trend 50MP resolution compared to 64MP in the K10x, it also comes in a considerably updated housing.

Meanwhile, that of the new OPPO device have been left in a rapidly-aging Realme GT-looking hump that is, moreover, only disguised as an authentic K-series camera window.

The K10x has debuted with ColorOS 12.1 based on Android 12 (much like the X40), even though ColorOS 13 is now out there.

It does, at least, start at the same 1,499 yuan (~US$214) price as its de facto Honor rival, and might have the edge here: its base model has 8GB of RAM rather than 6GB as in the other new Snapdragon 695 smartphone.

The OPPO K10x can be ordered in Polar Night or Aurora colorways from September 22, 2022 from the OEM's China-only online store.
