Nvidia's board partners have confirmed future iterations of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti will replace its 14 Gbps GDDR6 memory with faster 19 Gbps GDDR6X modules, resulting in over 30% memory bandwidth.

Despite two Ada Lovelace SKUs being officially on the market, Nvidia still hasn't given up on Ampere. It continues to launch a slew of confusingly-specced graphics cards, such as the GeForce RTX 3060 8 GB and the GA102-powered GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. Thankfully, some of the changes will affect Nvidia's existing stock. A report from MyDrivers (via Videocardz) says the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti will exclusively use GDDR6X memory.

The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti was initially launched with 8 GB of 14 Gbps GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus for a total memory bandwidth of 448 GB/s. Now, the 14 Gbps modules have been replaced with faster 19 Gbps counterparts, resulting in a total memory bandwidth of 608 GB/s. That additional bandwidth should result in a not-too-insignificant performance improvement. Everything else, including the GPU, base/boost clocks and TGP is identical across both SKUs.

The price for the upgraded Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is expected to remain the same, at least in China. It'll be a while before the new variants make their way to storefronts, though. While the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti isn't a bad graphics card, it isn't exactly flying off the shelves, especially at a time when its beefier siblings can be had for massive discounts. Nonetheless, prices for Ampere SKUs will continue to spiral in the coming weeks, making the GDDR6X toting 3060 Ti an attractive buy for those on a budget.
