New Huawei P30 Pro leak surfaces, corroborates quad rear camera setup rumors

Huawei’s P series phones have generally been the company’s photography-centric premium releases for the year, but the P20 Pro dialed that up to the very limits with its triple rear camera and at-the-time unmatched lowlight performance. The company will be hoping to build on the success of that device next year with the P30 Pro, and more renders of the device have surfaced.

There’s nothing particularly novel about these renders, as they only corroborate previous leaks on the phone. For one, the P30 Pro is expected to feature a quad rear camera setup. We already saw something of the sort on the Galaxy A9 but the implementation was poor, and was likely just Samsung trying to earn the accolade of being the first company to release a phone with four rear cameras. In any case, the Nokia 9 is set to be launched soon, and it will sport five rear cameras, which would be a new record.

The P30 Pro’s quad rear camera will be vertically aligned, just like the P20 Pro’s. There will be a 40 MP main camera, a telephoto camera, a wide or monochrome sensor, and a 3D sensor. The phone is said to be capable of 10X zoom, which has never been seen before on a smartphone. 

The P30 Pro’s rear houses no fingerprint sensor, and there’s a high chance that the biometric technology will, like on the P20 Pro, be located at the device’s front, but this time in the guise of an under-display sensor. At the top of the phone’s display will be a teardrop notch, a bit like with the Mate 20's.
