LG has aimed its latest 27-inch 4K monitor primarily at professionals who want a colour accurate monitor. However, the monitor should be suitable for some gaming on the side too, thanks to the tearing and input lag reduction technologies that it supports. The LG 27UP850 retails for US$549.99.

The LG 27UP850 is the company's latest 27-inch and 4K monitor. The 27UP850 has an IPS panel that LG has covered with an anti-glare coating. The monitor operates natively at 4K (3,840 x 2,160) and has a peak 60 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the 27UP850 is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified, meaning that it should reach at least 400 nits.

Moreover, LG claims that the monitor covers 95% of the DCI-P3 colour space (CIE1976) and has a contrast ratio of 1,200:1. While its 5 ms grey-to-grey response times are nothing to write home about, the 27UP850 supports AMD FreeSync and Dynamic Action Sync that should reduce input lag. LG has incorporated its Black Stabilizer too, which aims to improve the monitor's gaming experience by brightening dark areas.

In terms of I/O, LG has included a DisplayPort, two HDMI ports, two USB Type-A ports and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Best of all, the 27UP850 also features a USB Type-C port that can recharge devices at up to 96 W with USB Power Delivery. The Type-C port supports DP Alternate mode, USB Down-stream and data transmission, too. Incidentally, LG has integrated dual 5 W speakers should you not have any external speakers to hand.

LG has not yet given any details about when the 27UP850 will start shipping. However, the company has confirmed that the monitor will retail for US$549.99.
