IKEA's new "Taste the Future" recruitment campaign shoots two birds with one stone by offering job candidates a plate of 3D-printed IKEA vegan meatballs to break the ice. IKEA is going plant-based for at least half of its main meals by 2025 and is also searching for tech and innovation talent to fill a number of open positions.

IKEA will be trying to recruit imaginative tech talent over a plate of 3D-printed vegan version of its famous meatballs as part of a "Taste the Future" recruitment campaign. As if to emphasize the creativity requirements, the job candidates will be served the iconic IKEA meatballs that are made of 3D-printed meat substitute, as is the trend. The 3D-printed IKEA meatballs kill several recruitment birds with one stone as not only do they fit with the company's goal to have 50% of main meals in its stores be vegan by 2025, but it will also help it fill 150 tech- and innovation-related positions that will be opening this year. According to Inter IKEA's CIO Pascal Pauwels and its Employer Brand Leader Karen Rivoire:

IKEA is at the start of a journey to embrace data and technology to become more affordable, accessible and sustainable in an omnichannel environment. Naturally people with imagination will play a big role in that quest. So here we’re looking for people who want to create a better everyday life with us. This campaign is a great way to start the conversation...

We’re looking for down-to-earth data scientists, future architects, cyber guardians, unboxed engineers and common sense-makers. People who want to co-create a better everyday life at home for the many with thin wallets.

IKEA's "Taste the Future" recruitment campaign started February 1 and the 3D-printed meatballs will be served to select candidates during job interviews for the positions listed at IKEA.com/TasteTheFuture where the humble meatball gets a glowing review of its 3D-printed form:

Everything big starts out small. Like the iconic IKEA meatball. Launched in 1985, today it comes in several varieties – including a delicious plant-based option that looks and tastes like the original. All with a great small price tag and a smaller climate footprint. At IKEA, we aim to make healthy and sustainable choices affordable and accessible for all. To make that happen, we need people with imagination. People who know that everyone has a right to feel at home. People who share our vision of a better everyday life. Together we’ll innovate the future of life at home through data, technology, retail and home furnishing know-how. We need future architects, down-to-earth data scientists, unboxed engineers, cyber guardians, common sense makers and more! Are you one of them? Let’s taste the future together in a job interview over some experimental 3D-printed meatballs.
