Xiaomi finalises 1st and 2nd MIUI 12.5 batches with 18 devices chosen
We were disappointed to see Xiaomi only confirm that 16 devices would receive MIUI 12.5 before the summer, of which one was the newly-announced Mi 11. Thankfully, the company has kept to its promise of adding more devices to the list of those that will receive MIUI 12.5 this year.
The list has only grown by two, but it is good to see Xiaomi including more devices, nonetheless. It is a bit strange to see Xiaomi expand its MIUI 12.5 eligibility so soon after announcing the OS update, though. Conceivably, not that much could have changed in the few hours between Xiaomi's launch event and its announcement on the Mi Community.
Regardless, Xiaomi has included the POCO F2 Pro and the POCO X3 NFC in the second batch of devices to receive MIUI 12.5. The two devices should move from MIUI 12 to MIUI 12.5 in late Q2 2021, which probably means June.
Additionally, a note at the bottom of the Mi Community announcement states that its 'remaining devices will be upgraded later'. Presumably, this means that Xiaomi plans to run its MIUI 12.5 upgrade program into the summer and beyond for other POCO, Redmi and Mi series devices.
However, the company has not provided any further details on the matter. Hence, it remains unclear what other devices Xiaomi plans to upgrade to MIUI 12.5. We imagine that Xiaomi will announce a third batch of devices in due course. You can view what appears to be the finalised 1st and 2nd MIUI 12.5 batches below.
