RedMagic is expected to keep its line of high-performance Android gaming flagship phones going with a new 7 series in 2022. Now, one of them has allegedly shown up on Geekbench with some appropriately top-end specs. Furthermore, it is touted to launch alongside an even more powerful Pro variant.

Update: The new Nubia NX679J's MIIT registration page has just been updated with images. These photes confirm that it is a RedMagic phone, albeit one with a more muted esthetic than usual. In a contrast to previous years, not even its fans seem to be on show; then again, it has acquired what might be dual grilles running down either side of the rear camera hump. There is also something that looks like an air intake on one side.

Nevertheless, the extreme gradients, molded rear panels and hexagonal camera accents of the last few years seem to have been phased out in this putative 7. On the other hand, according to MIIT, RedMagic should add a new color to its extensive spectrum in 2022: green.

Original Article: Nubia's RedMagic gaming brand is said to have its early-2022 flagship smartphones in the works. These 7-series devices are projected to be the powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. This detail may be confirmed in the latest leak associated with the upcoming high-octane devices.

It consists of a new Geekbench 5 entry for a device with a model number linked to the "RedMagic 7" (Nubia NX679J) in the past. It seems to set its identity in stone with the presence of an 8 Gen 1 (or Qualcomm taro) platform and 16GB of RAM.

These specs have propelled the alleged 7 to scores rivaling those allegedly posted by units of the also-rumored Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 lines in the past. They seem to have been achieved using a new Android 12-based UI.

The leaker Digital Chat Station asserts that the 7 could add a 6.8-inch FHD+ display, a 4,500mAh battery, a 64MP main camera and unprecedentedly fast 165W charging (even if this spec could be a combination of inputs from dual USB type-C charging cables) to this power.

The RedMagic 7 is even slated to have a headphone jack, a feature abandoned in every other premium Android device by now. However, this impressive-sounding collection of specs has yet to be confirmed by the OEM. Then again, the NX679J has also shown up on the Chinese MIIT database.

This new registration appears to confirm the 7's 16GB spec, and indicates it might be joined by 8GB and 12GB SKUs. It also points to a 2,190mAh battery, although this could suggest a dual-cell solution that will be rounded up to 4,400mAh at least on its launch.

All in all, this seems to make for a world-beating smartphone, if one that will probably be in need of the brand's signature active cooling solutions. However, RedMagic is touted not to stop there. The 7 depicted in these new leaks is expected to be joined by a 7 Pro (or NX709J), which may boast further upgrades, an 18GB RAM option included.
