Business professionals in search of a stylish thin-and-light notebook may be in luck. The NEC Lavie Pro Mobile sports a unique coat of paint and comes in under 1 kilogram.
The Lavie Pro Mobile runs on an Intel Whiskey Lake Core i7-8565U CPU clocked at 1.8 GHz, Intel UHD Graphics 620, 8 GB of LPDDR3 RAM (2x4 GB, soldered), and a 512 GB PCIe SSD. The 13.3-inch FHD (1920x1080) IPS display is rated at 300 nits and has an anti-glare coating. Powering everything is a 49 Wh battery that NEC claims lasts 15 hours in MobileMark 14.
Port selection is adequate; the Pro Mobile is equipped with a single USB-A 3.1 Gen 2 port, a USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port, a USB-C 3.1 Gen1 port with power delivery, an HDMI 1.4b port, a microSD card reader, and a combo headphone/microphone jack. There are two 2 Watt Yamaha-branded speakers and two stereo microphones. Wireless connections are handled by the 802.11ac-capable WiFi card. The card also supports Bluetooth 5.0. Lastly, there is a fingerprint reader integrated into the power button.
The Pro Mobile is svelte at 307.8 x 215.7 x 15.5 mm (12.12 x 8.5 x 0.62 in) and weighs only 837 grams (1.85 lbs). NEC will offer the Lavie Pro Mobile in a “Bordeaux” color that looks like purple leather. The laptop is made from a magnesium-lithium alloy and a carbon fiber keyboard deck.
The NEC Lavie Pro Mobile will be available in March 2020 starting at US $1599.99.
