Six years since the release of Plants vs Zombies 2 for phones and tablets, Plants vs Zombies 3 is now ready for Android users ready to take it for a spin in a very early stage. A pre-Alpha version has just surfaced on Google Play, but only a limited number of downloads is available — and it looks like the first wave of testers is already full.

Plants vs Zombies 2 arrived for both Android and iOS devices back in the summer of 2013 and its iOS version was downloaded more than 25 million times in just a month. Although it did not get the award, it is also worth mentioning that Plants vs Zombies 2 was chosen by Apple as a runner-up for the 2013 iPhone game of the year award. Now, Electronic Arts is unleashing its successor in pre-Alpha stage, but only for Android devices.

The problem with the pre-Alpha version available on Google Play is — quite awkward, in fact — that downloading it involves pure luck. Since this is an early test version, Electronic Arts only allows a limited number of downloads. Today — at least in my area — there are no more downloads available. If you happen to visit the link above and you end up with a "We're sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server." error, then it means you should try your luck tomorrow.

For now, there is no official launch date for Plants vs Zombies 3. To run the pre-Alpha build, one needs an Android device with Marshmallow and specs on par with the Galaxy S7 or higher. Obviously, Plants vs Zombies 2 is not going anywhere and its successor has no microtransactions in the pre-Alpha stage, which is free-to-play.

Are you one of the lucky ones who managed to play the game already? If you are not bound by any NDA, feel free to share your Plants vs Zombies 3 pre-Alpha experience with the rest of us in the comments section.
