Oukitel WP21 teased as an incoming dual-display rugged smartphone with a new MediaTek SoC, a large battery and fast charging
Where some smartphones have large circular multi-lensed camera housings and others might have huge speakers, the new Oukitel WP21 has a whole round secondary display. On the other side, it sports a 6.78-inch display with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz resolution.
Its IP68/IP69K/MIL-STD-810H-rated chassis packs a 9,800mAh battery. Other rugged-type smartphones might do better in this respect; however, Oukitel may have made up for that with unusually fast 66W charging.
There is no wireless charging here, however, although the OEM has baked a power bank function into the WP21, which has only 1 12GB RAM/256GB internal storage SKU.
Therefore, Oukitel describes its new device as its "dual display flagship", even though its MediaTek Helio G99 processor does not support 5G and will run on Android 12 out of the box.
Oukitel is previewing its WP21 on AliExpress right now at a price of US$299.99. However, it is not set to launch until November 24, 2022, whereupon the OEM has mentioned incentives such as coupons worth US$10 and possibly even a smartwatch free with orders of the new smartphone, valid until November 29.
