OPPO Find X6 Pro backed to beat Xiaomi 13 Pro in terms of periscope zoom lens performance

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is now tipped to launch with a periscope zoom lens for one of its cameras, even though its predecessor missed out on the technology. However, OPPO is also now rumored to have restored the same to its Find X6 Pro. Of the 2 supposedly upcoming top-end Android smartphones, the latter is said to be superior in these terms.

Both Xiaomi and OPPO may have underwhelmed some mobile photography fans by leaving advanced periscope zoom lenses out of their respective 12 and Find X5 flagship Android smartphone lines in 2022. However, both OEMs are apparently now ready to take up arms in this particular arena for their next-gen premium devices.

Therefore, it may not be too long before 13- and Find X6-series with that kind of rear camera emerge. The eminent leaker Digital Chat Station now intimates that this is indeed the case, although the spec is reserved for the Pro variants in both cases.

The prospect might put the X6 Pro in a direct stand-off with the 13 Pro - not to mention the new Vivo X90 Pro+ - as both devices are also projected to debut with cutting-edge 1-inch main cameras in late 2022 or early 2023. However, the former might have the best chance of walking away unscathed.

Xiaomi is now tipped to rely on "a new algorithm" to ensure image quality via its new periscope module, whereas OPPO will apparently rely on hardware alone for "more impressive" performance. This may consist of a 1/1.5-inch sensor as the basis for the new super-zoom camera.
