It seems that the delay of the 10 nm Intel Cannon Lake processors and the current pricing of 32 GB memory modules compatible with Apple's requirements are both pushing the launch of the next-gen MacBook Pro to 2019. Two years ago, Apple was afraid that 32 GB of memory would require a different design with reduced battery space, but those fears are gone now.

Back in 2016, Apple had revealed that the new MacBook Pro released back then topped at 16 GB of memory due to the fact that supporting 32 GB would have required a redesign of the logic board with less space for batteries, thus leading to a decreased autonomy. Now, it seems that new problems are pushing the release of the MacBook Pro with 32 GB of memory well into 2019.

According to Intel's recent quarterly earnings report, the company will continue to ship 14 nm chips this year, and they will only be able to ship a high volume of 10 nm processors in 2019. Since the next-gen MacBook Pro with 32 GB RAM is supposed to use the 10 nm Cannon Lake processors with support for LPDDR4, Intel's delayed chips are obviously a reason for the delay of the Apple notebook.

For now, nothing is official, so it is also possible for Apple to release a new MacBook Pro with Intel Cannon Lake processors inside, but still topping at 16 GB of memory. However, since these upcoming chips will use less power and also produce lower amounts of heat when compared to their predecessors, finally adding 32 GB of memory to the MacBook Pro sounds like a natural choice. After all, some professional multimedia tasks require more than 16 GB of memory, and the chance to pick a generous amount of memory should be one of the reasons for naming this notebook the MacBook Pro.

Would you go for a 32 GB MacBook Pro, or 16 GB of memory is more than enough for you? Let us know in the comments section below.
