Rumour | NVIDIA Ampere GPUs to feature up to 8,192 CUDA cores, 256 RT cores, 1,024 tensor cores and 16 Gbps VRAM; RTX 3080 Ti to arrive before RTX 3060

Apparently launching in Q4 2020, the proposed specifications for the RTX 3080 Ti would make it significantly more powerful than any current consumer desktop GPU. The RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 do not seem half bad either, though.

A report by China Times has generated a lot of talk online. Not only does it claim that multiple NVIDIA AIBs are planning to clear old RTX 20 series stock, but it also lists a host of information about the RTX 30 series.

As we reportedChina Times has set expectations for the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 to arrive in Q3 2020. Potentially debuting at the delay Computex 2020, the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3060 will apparently be joining them in Q4 2020 and Q1 2021 respectively.

As you can see from the below screenshot, China Times has made some outlandish claims about the Ampere architecture. Based on its information, the RTX 3080 Ti will feature 8,192 CUDA cores, 256 RT cores, 1,024 tensor cores and a boost clock of 1,750 MHz.

While we have seen claims of the RTX 3080 Ti supporting 8,192 CUDA cores before, the proposed specifications for the RTX 3080 are beyond what we have seen before.

The report claims that Ampere GPUs will be based on a 7 nm process too, which goes against recent rumours. Additionally, we cannot find any source for the specifications, which makes us sceptical. Releasing the RTX 3060 two quarters after the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 seems a little strange too, by our reckoning.
