The new Disney+ streaming service will entail a mixture of old and new shows from all of the studios under its umbrella. This, therefore, includes Lucasfilm, 21st Century Fox, Pixar and Marvel. Therefore, Netflix may indeed forfeit several lucrative series-length titles as Disney parts company with it in 2019. This year should also see much more granular detail on what this new subscription has to offer.

Disney is set to unveil more details on its own-brand streaming service, Disney+, today (April 11, 2019). It may be well-advised to do so, as Apple is said to follow suit in good time with its own new in-house counterpart, TV+. Disney+ is widely perceived to be intended as a competitor to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Indeed, it is already seen as a service that will be depriving the former of big-ticket titles from Marvel Studios.

More specifically, Disney+ is the reason you are not likely to see the next series of quality shows such as Marvel's Daredevil in your Netflix recommendations any time soon. The latest reports on this subject indicate that Disney+ will be taking pre-existing shows such as this with it when it goes live. In addition, it has been said to have ordered some new series in the same vein, such as an analogous conversion of Marvel's Hawkeye comics, from the same studio.

Similarly, Disney is rumored to have commissioned a series called Mandalorian, a Star Wars story that will also be exclusive to the streaming service: a first for Lucasfilm. However, Disney has also reportedly learned from past experiences that viewers also like to watch things they have seen before. To that end, the characters of Pixar's Monsters will be resurrected again for a new show.

In addition, Disney+ is also projected to host a range of both 'legacy' and new shows from 21st Century Fox. Therefore, the current big names in streaming may truly be in trouble - depending on how viewer priorities pan out in reality. The multimedia giant will find out how this goes when it unleashes its new streaming service in November 2019.
