ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 vs ATI Mobility Radeon X300 vs ATI Mobility Radeon 9700
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600► remove from comparison
The predecessor version of the ATI Radeon 9700 Mobility differs by its low clock speed and the worse Z-compression (was improved with 9700). In the beginning it was the fastest graphic card, which was available for notebooks, but nowadays it is part of the lower performance segment.
Beware of versions with 32 MB memory, in most cases they only have a 64 bit memory bus, which deterioriates the speed severely.
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro was a higher clocked version with 350 MHz core- and memory clock (compared with the 300 MHz in the standard version). Further only a version with 128 MB was allowed to get this name.
ATI Mobility Radeon X300► remove from comparison
ATI Mobility Radeon X300 is a small graphic card of the 1000 series for notebooks from ATI. It has been replaced by the faster X1300. The performance is somewhat above the current integrated graphics of Intel GMA950. Technically it is similar to X600, but only with 64 bit instead of 128 bit memory interface.
In a Benq Joybook 5200 G a user found a 128 bit version of X300 (therefore more a X600)
Aero Glass of Windows Vista runs on the Radeon X300.
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700► remove from comparison
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 is the AGP pendant of the ATI Mobility Radeon X600. In these days it was the fastest available graphic card for notebooks and started the time of gaming noteboks. Despite its name, technically it is not related to the desktop graphic card 9700 (Pro), but with the 9600. Compared with the Mobility Radeon 9600 it is only higher clocked. The performance is like with X1400.
The version with only 32 MB memory can have a 64 bit memory interface. Then it is clearly slower!
