Logitech has rolled out its latest trackball-based mouse. The ERGO M575 is designed for use in small spaces and also aims to reduce arm and hand fatigue with thumb-based scrolling greatly reducing overall movement and effort.

Trackball mice can take some getting used to, but there is no question that they can be more ergonomic to use. Logitech is one company that continues to roll out new trackball-based computer mice and its new ERGO M575 builds on lessons it has learnt over many years. Instead of requiring using arm and hand movements to control a cursor, users just scroll the trackball with their thumb reducing fatigue and repeated movements.

In keeping with the ergonomic theme, the ERGO M575 has been designed with a shape that is a natural fit for a hand. The trackball has a transparent finish coating that makes it smooth and responsive while it is also fitted with a high-performance optical sensor to keep things accurate. Logitech says the ERGO M575 is also good for working in tight spaces as it has a small overall footprint and there is no need to move the mouse using hand or arm gestures.

According to Logitech, the ERGO M575 has been tested to perform for over 3 million clicks. It is also made from post consumer recycled plastic -- 50 percent for the Graphite color model and 21 percent for the Off-White model. The company says it features ultra-low power consumption with the included AA battery keeping things powered for up to two years. The Logitech ERGO M575 is compatible with both Windows and Mac machines and is retailing now for US$50.
