A new year and a new ThinkPad X1 lineup. Lenovo has given the X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga a Comet Lake U refresh, along with other treats for display and keyboard fans too. The X1 Carbon Gen 8 and X1 Yoga Gen 5 will be available worldwide from US$1,499 and US$1,599.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga have been well received in recent years, with recent models garnering top marks in our tests. Now, Lenovo is upgrading both devices to Intel 10th generation processors, specifically Comet Lake-U (CML-U). Announced today at CES 2020, the X1 Carbon Gen 8 and X1 Yoga Gen 5 will both receive Core i5 and Core i7 CML-U SKUs, including their vPro-equipped counterparts. There will be 6-core Core i7 options too.

Moreover, both devices will feature 4K Dolby Vision panels, a new 500 nit FHD PrivacyGuard AG display with PrivacyAlert and an upgraded keyboard layout with unified communications controls. Lenovo claims that the X1 Carbon Gen 8 and X1 Yoga Gen 5 will also be MIL-SPEC tested.
