On paper, with plenty of hardware packed in, a decent display and battery life, plus a bundled keyboard dock, the Lenovo Miix 2 11in looks pretty good value. The Core i5 version we tested comes in at £656 inc VAT including the keyboard dock and 256GB storage; the Core i5 Surface Pro 3 with 256GB costs £1,109 - nearly double - and that's without the keyboard, which costs another £110. The problem for the Miix 2 11in is that its keyboard dock is so poorly designed that it's hardly worth having – and that undermines a lot of what makes the Miix 2 such an attractive proposition in the first place. It's so close to being a good product, but we can't recommend it.

If you stick with basic tasks like productivity, web browsing and Windows Store apps, then the Lenovo Miix 2 (11") offers a quality user experience. But for anything more advanced, it's bedlam. The Miix 2 will have trouble competing with rivals like the Asus Transformer Book T100TA, which offers much better performance per pound spent.

The Lenovo Miix 2 11 was created to compete with the Asus Transformer Book T100TA, Samsung Ativ Smart PC XE500T1C and any other similar class laptop tablet hybrids. While it is wonderful to have PC-like experience in table form, there are just too many shortcomings to really be useful as PC. Made from an all plastic construction, the Lenovo Miix 2 11 still maintains a good design profile while sporting an 11.6 inch FHD display.

The tablet attaches to the keyboard using a magnetic connector and can be flipped to allow touchscreen access only. The hardware includes an Intel Core i3-4012Y (1.5 GHz) or Intel i5-4202Y (1.6 GHz); depending on the variant, up to 8 GB DDR3L on-board RAM and an integrated Intel HD graphic chip. Besides this, the Lenovo Miix 2 11 also packs a 256 GB SSD. MicroSD cards up to 2 TB are supported.

The sound quality is good with integrated JBL stereo speakers with subwoofer. The weight is kept at 800 g without battery which makes the device ultra-portable. The battery life of around 6 hours of WiFi browsing is good. Any other usage besides this will pose a challenge as the device is just not powerful enough. 

Intel HD Graphics 4200: Processor graphics card in some of the ULV Haswell CPUs with 20 EUs (GT2).

Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

This is a standard display format for tablet computers or small convertibles. You see more on the screen than on a smartphone but you can't use big resolutions well. On the other hand, mobility is not a problem.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.

In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.

In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.
