The baby of the upcoming Comet Lake U series and its new iGPU have appeared on GFXBench, leaving the Core i5-8265U and Ryzen 7 2700U in its wake. The Core i3-10110U even edges the NVIDIA GeForce MX250 in some benchmarks, which is mighty impressive from a 15 W integrated GPU.

The Core i3-10110U is here and it has Core i5, Ryzen 7 and even some dedicated GPUs in its sights. The processor will be the entry-level model in the Comet Lake U series, which Intel will manufacture on its 14 nm++ FinFET process. Few OEMs include Core i3 processors in their modern laptops and ultrabooks, but a recent GFXBench listing suggests that the Core i3-10110U will pack a decent amount of graphics power even though it is just a two core CPU.

The listing confirms that the processor will have a 2.1 GHz base clock, with Wccftech claiming that it will reach up to 4.1 GHz on a single core and 3.7 GHz on two cores. The Core i3-10110U will also support Intel Hyper-Threading, meaning that it will be able to execute up to 4 threads simultaneously. It will be a 15 W CPU like its Comet Lake U siblings too.

We expect Intel to equip the Comet Lake U series with an upgraded Intel UHD Graphics GPU, which GFXBench reinforces. The Core i3-10110U scores 86% and 38% more than the Core i5-8265U in the onscreen Manhattan 3.1 and T-Rex GFXBench 5.0 benchmarks according to the GFXBench database, although the latter has a slight edge in the offscreen equivalents. Predictably, the gap between the Core i3-8145U and Core i3-10110U is even larger, but the latter is within 10% of the Ryzen 7 2700U. There are currently no Ryzen 5 3500U or Ryzen 7 3700U results on the GFXBench database, but we would have used these against which to compare the Core i3-10110U if that were possible. Interestingly, the upcoming Comet Lake U processor  even outscores the GeForce MX250 in the onscreen Manhattan 3.1 and T-Rex benchmarks, but it falls short in other GFXBench tests and their offscreen variants.

Do not get us wrong, the UHD Graphics GPU in the Core i3-10110U will not be a gaming sleeper. However, it looks to offer a significant boost in graphics performance over the evergreen UHD Graphics 620, which was essentially a rebodied HD Graphics 620. The Core i3-1005G1 should go even further though with its 10 nm fabrication and its Gen 11 GPU, but the one in the upcoming Comet Lake U series should close the gap to the likes of the RX Vega 10, which currently holds a substantial performance advantage over the UHD Graphics 620.
