It appears Intel’s Ice Lake generation CPU i7-1065G7 has recently been tested on PassMark and has managed to come up with a noteworthy result. Not only did the processor from the blue team zip past AMD’s power-efficient Ryzen 5 3500U APU, the Ice Lake chip even outpaced the more power-hungry Ryzen 7 3750H.

AMD may still be exciting computer enthusiasts with benchmark records concerning members of the Ryzen 3000 series of desktop processors, but it seems Intel has been focusing on the mobile market in the meantime. The Ice Lake Core i7-1065G7 cropped up at the end of May when it was part of a Dell XPS 13 7390 system that scored very well on Geekbench. This time, the Intel CPU has paid a visit to PassMark and apparently repeated its success there.

Unfortunately, at least at the time of writing, the record for the i7-1065G7 on PassMark seems to have been removed. However, it is possible to find a cached version of the link with the chip being compared with AMD’s Ryzen 5 3500U (see screenshot below), where the Intel CPU scored 10,316 against its rival’s 8,042 points. Both processors have a TDP of 15 W, with the i7-1065G7 having a clock-rate range of 1.3 GHz to 3.9 GHz, while the Ryzen 5 3500U offers 2.1 GHz to 3.7 GHz.

More impressively though, the i7-1065G7 also outruns the Ryzen 7 3750H that has a higher TDP of 35 W. The latter chip scored 9,112 in PassMark’s benchmark, which is still some distance from the Ice Lake processor’s published result. The 4-core Intel CPU also demolished both of AMD’s Picasso APUs in the single thread rating, where it scored 2,625 against 1,818 (Ryzen 5 3500U) and 1,899 (Ryzen 7 3750H), respectively. The expected price of the Intel Ice Lake mobile processor is not yet known.
