Google Pixel Buds Pro set to take on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 2

After launching the second-generation Pixel Buds in 2020 and the mid-range Pixel Buds A about a year later, Google appears geared to finally bring a range-topping TWS earbud product to the market, in the form of the Pixel Buds Pro.

As revealed by John Prosser of FrontPageTech, Google is prepping the Pixel Buds Pro for launch. The self-styled tech analyst fails to provide any actual information on when the earbuds will debut, other than the fact that they're "coming soon". That could well mean an announcement at Google I/O, scheduled for May 11. The Pixel 6a could debut at the same event. All of that is just conjecture, however.

The Pixel Buds Pro will sit at the very top of Google's TWS hierarchy, with the Pixel Buds 2 and Pixel Buds A beneath. While those two lack active noise cancellation, it'd be shocking if the Pixel Buds Pro didn't land with that feature. It will, almost definitely, be priced higher than the US$179 Pixel Buds 2 as well.

Google's Pixel Buds line is widely considered to be a tad worse than rival products from Samsung and Apple. The Pixel Buds Pro will face stiff competition from Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Buds Pro 2—expected to launch in August—and the upcoming Apple AirPods Pro 2. The Galaxy Buds Pro and AirPods Pro cost US$199 and US$249 respectively, and the Pixel Buds Pro will likely be priced somewhere in the middle. Supposedly, the earbuds will be available in at least four colorways: Carbon, Limoncello, Real Red, and Fog.
