MediaTek Dimensity 920 vs Mediatek Helio P70 vs MediaTek MT8188J
MediaTek Dimensity 920
► remove from comparison
The Mediatek Dimensity 920 is a fast mid-range SoC with an integrated 5G modem. It includes two fast ARM Cortex-A78 cores at up to 2.5 GHz and six power efficient Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2 GHz (Octa-Core with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing). Furthermore, the chip integrates a 4 core ARM Mali-G68 MC4 GPU, a Wi-fi 6 modem, a LPDDR4x memory controller, a AI processing unit and video de- and encoding.
The 5G modem supports Sub-6 GHz and dual SIM. The download speeds can reach up to 2.7 Gbit/s.
Compared to the older Dimensity 900, the 920 offers slightly higher clock speeds for the CPU and GPU.
The Dimensity 920 is manufactured in the modern 6nm process and should be very power efficient.
Mediatek Helio P70
► remove from comparison
The Mediatek Helio P70 is an upper mainstream ARM SoC for smartphones (mainly Android based) that was introduced in 2019. It is manufactured in a 12 nm FinFET (12FFC) process and is equipped with 4x big ARM Cortex-A73 cores and 4x small and power efficient ARM Cortex-A53 cores in two clusters (bigLITTLE). The cores can reach a frequency of up to 2.1 GHz. The processor also integrates a ARM Mali-G72MP3 GPU and a dedicated AI processing unit. Compared to the older Helio P60, the P70 uses the same silicon (most likely) but 100 MHz higher clocked CPU and GPU cores.
MediaTek MT8188J
► remove from comparison
The MediaTek MT8188J is a mid-range ARM SoC (System-on-a-Chip) introduced in the first quarter of 2023, primarily used in Android-based tablets. It is manufactured using a 12-nanometer process and features a total of eight CPU cores (Octa-Core). These consist of two fast Cortex-A78 cores and 6 Cortex-A55 cores that work together in a big.LITTLE configuration.
The A78 cores of the MediaTek MT8188J can clock at speeds of up to 2.2 GHz, while the A55 cores can reach speeds of up to 2 GHz (going down to 500 MHz). For graphics processing, it employs an ARM Mali-G57 MP2 GPU. Additionally, it includes a video decoder with support for H.264 and H.265.
In addition to the CPU and GPU, the chip integrates an LPDDR4 memory controller, capable of supporting up to 8 GB of RAM. The SoC also includes a modem for WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and LTE up to Cat.7.
