2021 has already seen the highest Samsung Galaxy S-series sales in South Korea for four years

The market analysis group Atlas Research & Consulting now estimates that Samsung sold 590,000 units of the  Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra in the first 4 weeks since their launch to the South Korean market.

These findings are somewhat of a contrast to quite a few post-launch seasons in which the phones' premium series exhibited rather depressed sales in their home market: for example, the S21 devices did 150 to 200% better compared to their predecessors in their own first month on sale.

In fact, the Galaxy S-series hasn't achieved this kind of success since the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ moved 620,000 units in the same time-frame in South Korea. Atlas attributed the S21s' resurgence to the OEM's improved ability to strike the balance between premium, 5G specs and starting prices this time around.

However, it is also clear that not everyone was interested in either in Samsung's home country. Counterpoint Research has reported that Samsung also made 2020's best selling Android phone in South Korea. The Galaxy A31 proved this popular due to the economic downturn related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
