Maingear updates Titan 17 gaming laptop

Teaser
High-performance gaming notebook can now be equipped with six-core Intel i7-3960X processor

It was just yesterday that Clevo released their “fastest desktop replacement in the world” and Maingear is now following them up by upgrading their top-of-the-line Titan 17 gaming notebook.

Seeing as the Titan 17 utilizes the same chassis as Clevo’s P270WM, much of the innards are the same. As such, the Titan 17 features support for Intel’s six-core i7-3930K and 3960X, which were originally manufactured for desktop PCs. In addition, the Titan 17 can be decked out with up to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M in SLI or a 4GB NVIDIA Quadro 5010M, just like the P270. On the other hand, Maingear has spared no expenses when it comes to the Titan’s storage, as the notebook features up to 1.8TB of SSD space via three 600GB drives, or 2.2TB of regular storage using a trio of 750GB platters.

All in all, there isn’t much difference between Clevo’s and Maingear’s offerings, with both featuring the same 17.3” Full-HD 3D capable display and similar base configurations.  Peculiarly, Maingear's starting tag of $3,499 is slightly higher than Clevo's P270, but it does come with an assortment of freebies.

The notebook can currently be pre-ordered and customized from Maingear’s site and should being shipping sometime in mid-March.
