CES 2012 | Lenovo unveils ThinkPad T430u Ultrabook

Announced earlier last week, Lenovo has taken the time at CES to show off its latest Ultrabook for the highly regarded ThinkPad series.

The ThinkPad T430u will reportedly be 0.8-inches (21mm) thick and weigh 3.9 pounds (1.769kg), which is quite hefty considering its size. This 14-inch notebook will sport Ivy Bridge CPU options, optional SSD/HDD storage options and a 1366x768 resolution anti-glare display. The notebook will also have Nvidia discrete graphics options, which is certainly appreciated in an ultrathin notebook market.

Perhaps notably, the bottom casing of the notebook is user-removable without the need of screwdrivers. This is especially welcoming for users who need to upgrade or replace storage drives or RAM modules, as other Ultrabooks usually have soldered RAM and are often sealed off completely to the end user.

The ThinkPad T430u is expected to ship Q3 2012 starting at $849. While the specs and hardware definitely seem impressive, the launch window is relatively late compared to other Ultrabook newcomers such as the Dell XPS 13 and HP Envy Spectre, both of which should be out to market by the end of next month at the latest.
