Qualcomm's next chipset will be the much-awaited "SM7475". That SoC is expected to be branded as the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 and will arrive this month, with leaked Geekbench benchmark numbers corroborating previous claims of performance matching last year's flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

According to recent reports, Qualcomm's next chipset, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1, or "SM7475" is set to arrive this month as an underclocked Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 of sorts. Benchmarks support that claim too, it appears.

After appearing on AnTuTu weeks ago, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 has supposedly made the trip over to Geekbench, outperforming the opposition in the process. The chipset records a single-core score of 1232, and a multi-core score of 4095. Comparatively, the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 on the iQOO Neo7 scores 1049 and 4019 in the single-core and multi-core tests.

In fact, "SM7475" comes perilously close to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, with the last-gen flagship chipset averaging 1295 and 4214 in those two categories respectively. Geekbench only accounts for CPU performance, however, and the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 can be expected to feature a considerably less powerful GPU than the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The upcoming chipset is expected to feature an Adreno 725 clocked at 580 MHz. The Adreno 730 on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 hits frequencies well over 800 MHz when boosted, for example. Even assuming identical GPU architecture, that clock speed difference guarantees a massive advantage to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Tangentially, if earlier reports are anything to go by, this Geekbench listing indicates "SM7475" uses a 1 + 3 + 4 configuration, likely with a Cortex-X3 core clocked at 2.92 GHz, three Cortex-A710 clocked at 2.50 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz.

In any case, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 is said to debut later this month, with phones featuring the chipset to arrive at the end of the month, or in early April. Leaker Digital Chat Station has now confirmed two devices that will win the adoption race, namely the Redmi Note 12T and Realme GT Neo5 SE. Both phones have been certified, with the Redmi Note 12T bearing the model number "23049RAD8C", while the Realme GT Neo5 SE goes by "RMX700".
