Specifications, design and the launch date of the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition have already been confirmed. Equipped with a 108 MP primary camera, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition will also have a 1.5K display. A Geekbench listing has shown that the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition will make good use of its Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset too.

Xiaomi has revealed several details about the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition, the first Redmi smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. Initially, the company merely confirmed that the smartphone would be arriving this month, which it has since narrowed down to August 11. In other words, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition will launch alongside the MIX Fold 2, Xiaomi's next-generation foldable smartphone. Incidentally, Xiaomi has also confirmed that the Buds 4 Pro and Watch S1 Pro will be in attendance, covered separately.

Additionally, Xiaomi has previewed the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition's design, along with a few specifications. Surprisingly, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition looks more like the Xiaomi 12S or Xiaomi 12S Pro than the Redmi K50 or Redmi K50 Pro. Built with a CNC aluminium frame, a textured back panel and matte glass, Xiaomi has hinted that the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition will be available in two or three colours. Separately, the device will have a '1.5K flagship' display that outputs at 1080p, 120 Hz, and has a 446 PPI pixel density, among other features.

Furthermore, Xiaomi has teased that the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition has a 108 MP primary camera, a resolution many high-end Redmi smartphones offer. Purportedly, Xiaomi has chosen the ISOCELL HM6, not the ISOCELL HMX or the ISOCELL HM2 that feature in numerous POCO, Redmi and Xiaomi-branded handsets. For context, the ISOCELL HM6 debuted in April with the Realme 9 4G with a 1/1.67-inch optical format, an f/1.75 aperture and 1.92 μm-wide pixels with 9-in-1 pixel binning enabled. The same leaker adds that the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition will ship with 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and 2 MP macro cameras, too.

Meanwhile, @stufflistings has spotted what he claims is the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition on Geekbench. Benchmarked as the Xiaomi 22081212C, the smartphone achieved single-core and multi-core scores of 1,339 and 4,389 points, respectively. For reference, these scores outperform the ASUS ROG Phone 6 Pro, which also features 18 GB of RAM. By contrast, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition has 12 GB of RAM, plus an unspecified amount of storage. Predictably, the device runs Android 12 too; it remains to be seen how quickly Xiaomi will update the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition to Android 13, given the update's impending release.
