The POCO X5 is moving closer to release, with the upcoming handset seen being used by an Indian international cricketer. Due for release in multiple markets, the POCO X5 is expected to be a re-branded Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition with a Snapdragon 778G chipset, a 120 Hz OLED display and three rear-facing cameras, among other features.

The POCO X5 appears to have surfaced again ahead of its official release. Earlier this month, the device received TÜV Rheinland certification, indicating that Xiaomi plans to offer the POCO X5 in Europe. Accordingly, the POCO X5 has been certified in other countries with a global model number, which SIRIM Berhard confirmed as 22111317PG. This time, Indian international cricketer Hardik Pandya has been spotted using an unnamed POCO handset.

While the images do not reveal the device's name, it resembles a POCO X5 series promotional poster that emerged last week. Specifically, the device has three rear-facing cameras arranged in POCO's typical huge camera housing, as well as the company's infamous POCO Yellow colourway. It is worth stressing that there is no definitive source for these images. Instead, they appear to have been re-circulated by Voompla on Facebook. As such, we would not rule out these images being a PR plant before the POCO X5's Indian release. Neither POCO India nor POCO Global has started teasing the release of the POCO X5 series yet, nor have they revealed a launch event date.

Incidentally, the back of the POCO X5 looks like the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition that Xiaomi launched last month in China. Thought to be launching globally as the Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G too, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition has a Snapdragon 778G chipset, a 120 Hz OLED display, a 5,000 mAh battery and a 108 MP primary camera. Typically, Xiaomi does not alter specifications for regional models, making it likely that the POCO X5 will share its core features with the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition.
